The Art Education Program is pleased to present a free community lecture by Gregory Warmack—also known as “Mr. Imagination”—on Saturday, October 2, 10:00 am at the Baron & Ellin Gordon Art Galleries, followed by an afternoon hands-on workshop with the artist in the Art Studio Building on Monarch Way from 12:00–4:00.

“Mr. Imagination” is a contemporary, visionary, self-taught artist whose work has been included in exhibitions at the The Baron and Ellin Gordon Self-Taught Art Gallery on campus. A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Imagination currently resides in Atlanta Georgia. He creates original works of art with metaphor, meaning and wisdom using recycled materials to create pieces that are personal, whimsical and powerful.

In addition to the free lecture on campus, ODU students will work earlier in the week fourth and fifth graders at the Willard Model School as part of their ongoing service-learning. The workshops will be linked to Virginia SOLs and based on the concepts of community identity and transformations. An exhibition of the resulting work will be hosted by ODU Art Education students at Waterside on the second floor at Bridge Deck across from Mayer Fine Art. An opening celebration is set for Monday, October 25 from 4:00–6:00pm. All are welcome to attend this free event.
